How do I obtain a quote?
You can obtain a quote via phone, email or home visits. I can provide you with quotations for any items you are considering having reupholstered via email, on the phone or through a local home visit.
A quote will be dependent on several factors:
- How much (if any) restoration work is required.
- If the item requires refilling/ repairing with foam or feathers.
- The age of the item.
- The complexity of the job – in terms of pattern matching and buttoning.
The best way to get a quote is to send through 3 pictures of the item (front, back and side) and approximate measurements if possible.

Is re-upholstery more expensive than buying new?
This depends entirely upon where you are thinking of buying any new furniture from and what type of restoration is required on existing pieces.
Many factory made pieces are of a lesser quality, as they are mass-produced, using cheaper materials and sacrificing quality to deliver low prices. Re-upholstering existing pieces can be considerably cost-effective and enables you to keep hold of furniture that you love – either because it’s sentimental or because it is the comfiest chair you have ever owned!
I always want to help my clients to make informed choices and will assist you in any way I can to ensure you receive a cost effective solution to meet your individual needs.
Can you collect my furniture?
I do offer a collection service and will collect at a time and date that is convenient to you. Upon collection, I always work as quickly as possible to return the piece to you at your earliest convenience. Some of my clients find it easier to personally drop off and collect their items. My main priority after achieving a fantastic restoration is to minimise any disruption and make my services as convenient as possible for you.
How long will my re-upholstery take?
This is dependent upon several factors such as the amount of work required to the piece and my schedule. I will be sure to give you a completion date at the time of quotation.
If a piece is required urgently there is a 20% surcharge.
Do materials need to be flame retardant?
Fabric used to make curtains, blinds and cushions is not required to meet any fire standards however when buying fabric for upholstery use there are important safety considerations. I will be able to advise you fully on these Fire and Safety Regulations, which all upholsterers are obligated to abide.
There are laws in the UK about the safe use of fabrics for upholstery. For any upholstery made after 1950 you must abide by the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations when recovering upholstered furniture including nursery furniture and headboards.
For hotels, nursing home, public buildings and similar vulnerable interiors you are advised to contact your county fire officer. Requirements will be dependent on circumstances.
Do you stock fabrics?
Although I do not stock fabrics, I would be more than happy to discuss suitable fabrics for your upholstery. Some customers have a clear idea of their likes and dislikes, whilst others would like a little more guidance – after all, the choice of available fabrics can be overwhelming!
I can provide all upholstery consumables and other materials such as foam padding and feathers for cushion refilling if required.
Do you have any client testimonials?
I would be delighted to offer you with comprehensive references if you are using me for the first time. Please also feel free to take a look at the portfolio section to see some before and after images of my clients’ work.
Sometimes it is only once I have an item stripped down that I will know the full extent of the work required. For example, sometimes chairs will require complete re-webbing or a cushion will require new bolstering. If this is case, I will of course consult with you prior to commencing any work which may occur additional charges. However, for the majority, when I meet with my clients I often have a good idea of how much work is required and this will of course be incorporated into your quote.
Delivery and collection is incorporated into your quote, however there may be an additional charge for larger items.
